Dieu Nhan Zen Convent is located in the state of California, USA,
forty miles form Sacramento, the state capitol.
In 2002, a house and nearly eleven acres of land on a hill in Rescue were donated to
the Head Master of Vietnamese Zen Congregation,
Zen Master Thich Thanh Tu,
by a family of six sisters, "Luc Hoa"_Man Tu Tri, Man Tu Hue and their four
sisters. Their gift was accepted on July 4th 2002, and the Master ordered the nuns to form
the Dieu Nhan Buddhist Meditation Association, under the direction of Vien Chieu Zen Convent
in Viet Nam.
Four months later, on November 16th 2002 Zen Master Thich Thanh Tu came to Rescue, California
from Viet Nam to lay the foundation stone for the Buddha Hall of the convent.
At first, the convent consisted of a house and a garage. The garage was subsequently converted
into a beautiful, large Meditation Hall, which can accommodate sixty meditation practioners.
At present there are six nuns living at the convent.
